The tubing resists chemicals such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons (carbon tetrachloride, benzene, toluene, and xylene), oils, fuels, lubricants, and mineral acids at temperatures of 30 to 400°F continuously and higher temperatures on an intermittent basis. Black in color, Vitube works well outdoors in sunlight and ozone.
The tubing has the resiliency of an elastomer as well as the mechanical properties of conventional synthetic rubbers. Two hardnesses are stocked: 60 Shore A, also known as Type B, is softer and designed for peristaltic pump use, while 75 Shore A (Type A) is used for most other applications.
Two dozen sizes from 1/32 through 7/8-in. ID are available and can be customized as cutto- length pieces, nonstock sizes, protec t ive overbraiding, and other hardnesses. Barb style fittings and a variety of clamps are also available.
