Self-Sealing Fasteners

June 2, 2005
Nyseal, a preapplied, self-sealing coating, creates a gasketlike seal on fasteners at pressures to 500 psi.

The coating covers 360° of the fastener head's bearing surface and twoto-three thread pitches down the shank. It needs no additional curing or heating after installation. The coating permanently fuses to the fastener, compressing slightly and filling voids between the head and countersink or bore when the fastener seats. The coating prevents galvanic corrosion and resists hydraulic fluids, oil, gas, most petroleum fluids, water, and gaseous vapors. Fasteners treated with Nyseal are reusable and the self-sealing coating will not shrink or dry with age.
