Rupture Disks For Extruders

July 12, 2007
Rupture disks provide emergency relief of excess pressure in extruding equipment.

Rupture disks provide emergency relief of excess pressure in extruding equipment. They are also known as burst plugs and break at a predetermined pressure range. They can provide relief when pressure builds up so rapidly that the response time of the relief valve is inadequate. They can be specified to burst at pressures from 1,500 to 15,000 psi ±5%, withstand temperatures to 750°F, and come in a variety of sizes and mounting options.
