Composite Fittings

Nov. 22, 2006
Composite push-to-connect airbrake fittings reportedly offer fast assembly, tight tolerances, and resist contamination.

Bodies are made from a strong, lightweight, and impact-resistant composite material. A brass shoulder on the collet increases side-load capabilities, a stainless-steel retained collar improves burst strength at high temperatures, and a staked-in tube support ensures proper assembly. The fittings are available in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, and 3/4-in. sizes with SAE J476 threads, for SAE J844 air-brake tubing. Configurations include elbows, tees, straights, and special-order jump sizes. The fittings are rated for vacuum to 250 psi, with a working temperature range from -40 to 200°F.
