FEA Ready for Linux and 64-Bit Processing

Feb. 17, 2005
FEA program NEiNastran V8.3 has been ported to the Intel Itanium 2 and the AMD Opteron 64-bit CPUs running the RedHat Linux operating system.

NEiNastran is part of Noran Engineering's suite of analysis software: linear and nonlinear statics, dynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow, fatigue, optimization, and more. This easy-to-use program handles complex structural, dynamics and heat-transfer problems on laptops, desktop PCs, and heavy-duty engineering workstations. The Intel Itanium 2 and AMD Opteron processors let companies expand the use of CAE software without the higher cost of other computer platforms. These processors provide a migration path from 32-bit computing to 64 bit. Customers taking advantage of the developments can expect at least a twofold increase in speed while performing linear and nonlinear software.
