Self-Locking Fasteners Take 450°F

Sept. 28, 2006
SPS Nytemp self-locking fasteners feature a locking element made from a high temperature-resistant polymer.

Self-Locking Fasteners Take 450°F

It is applied as an orange-colored patch to internally or externally threaded parts. The patch maintains torque and clamp loads at temperatures to 450°F (232°C) for aerospace, automotive, appliances, and small engine applications. The polymer stands up to water, antifreeze, gasoline, motor oil, diesel oil, various kerosene-based materials, and hydraulic fluids, and meets torque and vibrations requirements of MIL-STD-1312 #7. The self-locking fastener is compatible with aerospace and defense fastener alloys including A286, INCO 718, and CRES300 Series. It also reportedly exceeds IFI-124, IFI-524, IFI-155 and IFI-555; military MIL-DTL-18240F and MIL-QPL-18240; NASA SP-R-0022A and Detroit Diesel TES-113 specifications.
