Ultraclear Polysulfone

June 2, 2005
Unlike conventional polysulfones with their yellow tint, Udel P-1700 HC is nearly as clear as polycarbonate.

The polymer's hydrolytic stability and resistance to oxidation, heat, and chemicals makes it a good fit for face shields, protective eyewear, and sight glasses. Lighting components such as lenses and covers are other applications. Its continuous service-temperature rating is 300°F (149°C). The resin can be processed using standard injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding, while film and sheet products can be thermoformed. Udel P-1700 HC parts can be ultrasonically welded, laser marked, adhesively bonded, heat staked, threaded, and machined.
