New Products: Embedded application system

Jan. 10, 2008
The Easy Embedded Application System is a PC-compatible, industrial computer and machine-vision platform.

Housed in a compact aluminum enclosure, the Easy has all core hardware needed to develop and deploy vision systems in industrial applications.

Developed by VEA member Visics Corp. (Wellesley, Mass.), Easys are delivered running Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, or Linux. Configurations range from Celeronpowered units with modest memory, four USB 2.0 ports, a GigE interface, and VGA display, to fully loaded Core 2 Duo-based units that feature 2-GB RAM, 80-GB disk memory, DVI or VGA video, 8 USB 2.0 ports, a six-port GigE switch with intelligent Power-Over- Ethernet (POE) on all channels, a PLC, and 16 opto-isolated, bidirectional, digital I/O pin points. An embedded NN DMA engine handles all incoming images as well as display-related tasks that lets Easys so outfitted outperform PCs with processors that are intrinsically more powerful but handicapped by having to handle those functions.
