Flame-Retardant Structural Epoxy

Oct. 26, 2006
Flame-retardant 10-Minute Epoxy FR fills gaps and bonds metals, fabrics, glass, wood, and concrete in all combinations.

It's flexible, resists impacts, and can secure honeycombed floor and ceiling panels in airliners. Mixed as dispensed, the epoxy has a 80,000-cps viscosity, a 10-min working time, and fixes in 20 min with a 3-hr functional cure at 72°F. Bonds pass the federal 60-sec vertical burn test (14 CFR 25.853/25.885) with low VOC emission. Once cured, the epoxy provides a typical peel strength of 25 pli, impact resistance of 10 ft-lb/in.2, dielectric strength of 800 V/mil, and adhesive tensile lap shear strength of up to 2.9 kpsi (as tested on grit-blasted steel at 144°F).
