STEPMOTOR DRIVER ICS
Capable of up to 1/16 microstepping, it features fault diagnostics and reporting and has integrated DMOS outputs protected against short-to-battery and short-to-ground. The unit features an integrated two-wire Step and Direction interface to allow microstepping without the need for a complex system controller. A pulse on the Step pin generates a microstep in the direction set by the Direction pin. The output drivers can operate between 7 and 35 V and, depending on thermal considerations, will typically generate up to 1 A of output current. Battery overvoltage sensing lets the IC stand-off up to 50 V to meet automotive IC load-dump requirements. Two fault output pins report faults for overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature, and short circuits to battery or to ground. The chip comes in a 28-lead thermally enhanced TSSOP package.
