Mechanical Product: Spring-Applied Brakes

April 10, 2008
The MCDB spring-applied brakes, designed for servo, robotic, and ballscrew applications, have fewer internal components.

The brakes’ hub and disk are one piece. Contact takes place on only one side of the disk, which results in no drag, contact, or noise when the brake is released. Additional features include: special friction material and high-efficiency flux path permit 4.5 to 18 lb-in. of torque in a 2 to 3-in. diameter; single-face engagement and disengagement for quick torque buildup and quick release; and elimination of brake cover plate reduces length.
