Precision Stainless-Steel Wire

June 2, 2005
Sanicro 36Mo is a nitrogen-enhanced, high-alloyed austenitic stainless steel for sour service slicklines and logging cables.

The high-strength alloy resists chlorides, H2S, and CO2 and features a 20% higher breaking load than other sour-gas-grade materials. The alloy's tensile strength is 270-kpsi minimum for slicklines and 300 kpsi for logging cable lines. And its proof strength is reportedly about 85% of its tensile strength. This lets wires resist high loads without deforming. Slickline wires come in 0.082, 0.92, 0.105, 0.108, and 0.125-in. diameters. Logging cables come in diameters of 0.243, 0.31, 0.0323, 0.0358, and 0.0445 in.
