A Hall-effect sensor integrated circuit and magnet combination provides a user-friendly solution for digital gear-tooth sensing and true zero-speed direction detection in two-wire applications.

A singleshot molded-plastic package includes a samarium-cobalt magnet, a pole piece, and a Hall-effect IC. Units can be used in conjunction with a wide variety of gear shapes and sizes. Sensors are ideal for obtaining speed, direction, and diagnostic information using gear-tooth-based targets found in ABS and transmission applications.
