Additive Eases Foam Processing

May 11, 2006
Niax L-590, a silicone additive, is for flexible polyurethane foams used in furniture and automotive parts.

It eases polyurethane processing for most conventional formulations by emulsifying chemicals during mixing. This promotes cell formation and stabilizes the foam as it rises. It also reportedly sharply reduces volatile emissions that can harm the environment. Niax L-590 silicone stabilizes a range of foams, including high or low density and those that are hypersoft.
