A new no-polish connector lets users install single-mode and multimode fiber connections.

A new no-polish connector lets users install single-mode and multimode fiber connections. The one-piece, preassembled connector eliminates field polishing and loose parts. It features a permanently attached, bell-shaped boot, so there is no chance of losing or forgetting to install it before inserting the fiber. The bell maintains the minimum fiber bend radius for optimum strain relief. An easy-to-use assembly tool lets installers align prepared fibers in connectors and activate a splice and buffer clamp. Finger grips on the tool simplify handling even without flat work surfaces. Installation can reportedly be completed in less than 2 min.
