Dual-Core Servers Pack Up To 1,024 Processor Cores

Oct. 26, 2006
The Altix 450 and 4700 servers are equipped with next-generation dual-core Intel Itanium 2 processors.

These Linux servers are said to deliver double the performance of current Altix systems, while using less power and providing more flexibility for data-intensive tasks. The 450 server scales to 38 Itanium 2 sockets, or up to 76 processor cores, and up to 456 Gbyte of globally addressable memory. The 4700 server scales from 8 to 512 CPU sockets, or up to1,024 processor cores, and can accommodate up to 6 Tbytes of globally shared memory.
