Rapid-Prototyping Resins

Nov. 3, 2005
Five rapid-prototyping materials for stereolithography (SLA), selective-laser sintering (SLS), and fused-deposition modeling (FDM) are now available.

They serve in a range of applications including high-resolution models, functional prototypes, rubberlike components, and parts needing high strength at elevated temperatures. Three of the materials are for SLA: Somos 15120, Elastomer (70 to 80 Shore-A hardness), and Somos 14120, an ABS-like material for highresolution SLA. For selective-laser sintering, there is SLS Flex and for FDM, there's a polycarbonate/ABS blend. Samples are available.
