Fuel-Nozzle Seal Assembly

May 19, 2005
The Tri-clad composite fuel-nozzle seal assembly features a Thermafoil flexible graphite core and 0.002-in. 300 Series stainless-steel jacket assembled with a stainless compression limiter.

The seal can be used at the attachment flange pad between the body of a high-temperature fuel nozzle and combustion housing to prevent deformation of fuel-nozzle flanges during thermal cycling. The Thermafoil core operates as an infinite-life spring when in the metal jacket, sealing the mating components during thermal cycling and soak back.
