New Product: Reticulated foams

Jan. 24, 2008
Metal, carbon, and ceramic reticulated foams are low-density, permeable structures of cells and continuous ligaments.

They are said to have unusually high surface-area-to-volume ratios, high strength-to-weight ratios, and the same chemical resistance as the parent material. Foams are in aluminum, stainless steel, nickel, vitreous carbon, alumina, and silicon carbide. These low-density foams also can be conductive or insulating, depending on the material chosen.
