Self-Aligning Aluminum Pillow Blocks And Housing Flanges

Sept. 1, 2005
Self-aligning pillow blocks and housing flanges mount in aluminum housings and come with a choice of needle roller, Teflon bronze, or SAE 840 bronze bearings.

A spherical insert held in place by the outer retainer lets the insert pivot 5° in any radial inclination, easing shaft alignment and ensuring smooth rotation.

A special process for making the SAE 840 bronze is said to retain 30% more lubricant than competitive processes and without the significant carburization and viscosity increases that hurt performance. Aluminum housings are sintered rather than cast, which improves dimensional accuracy and appearance.

Needle roller types come in sizes 0.250 to 0.750 in.; Teflon bronze in 0.250 to 1.000 in.; and SAE 840 bronze in sizes 0.250 to 1.250 in.
