Real-Time ethernet controller

Dec. 8, 2005
Targeted for the ProfiNet isochronous real-time Ethernet (IRT), the Asic Ertec 400 combines real-time communication for high-speed control of all Ethernet communications, including TCP/IP.

Equipped with a four-port switch and a 32-bit microprocessor, the controller features a 1-msec cycle time, and less than 1- sec jitter to control as many as 150 axes simultaneously. The processor is integrated in the Siemens CP 1616 card for PCs; Scalance X200-IRT industrial Ethernet switches for configuring Ethernet networks in line, star, and ring topologies; and Simotion D motion-control systems. A development kit package is available that includes everything required to develop a PN I/O device.
