Engine-driven welder/generator

May 11, 2006
The new Vantage 400 is a compact welder/generator for construction, pipe, and rental-fleet applications.

Housed in a compact, corrosion-resistant stainless-steel case, it features a water-cooled, four-cylinder Perkins diesel engine and delivers 400 A and 36 V, or up to 450 A and 32 V, at 100% duty cycle. It is suited for stick and CV welding, as well as arc gouging. The unit also generates 19 kW (peak) of three-phase 240-Vac for industrial equipment such as plasma cutters, pumps, and inverter welders. And it delivers 12 kW (peak) of single-phase auxiliary power for lights, grinders, and other common construction tools. A Voltage Reduction Device lets operators select a lower open-circuit voltage for added safety when CC-Stick welding, especially in wet and humid environments with a higher risk of electrical shock.
