Ecovio LBX 8145 contains 45% (by weight) of PLA (polylactic acid), a renewable raw material made from corn.

The first application for the polymer will be flexible films used for plastic shopping bags. Samples of Ecovio are available in Europe, and commercial quantities will hit the market in March. Ecovio is scheduled to reach Asia and the NAFTA region in the second half of this year.
