Noncontact Rotary Sensors

June 16, 2005
The RSC3700 family of noncontacting rotary sensors provides 360 degree absolute angle measurements with 12-bit resolution.

The RSC3700 family of noncontacting rotary sensors provides 360° absolute angle measurements with 12-bit resolution. Measurements are referred to a mechanical index point, so the position is maintained in power failures. Output interfaces include 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 10 V or 0.5 to 4.5 V analog as well as digital pulse-width modulated. Resolution is ±0.09°, absolute linearity of ±0.1%, repeatability is less than 0.15%, and sample rates range up to 1,000 Hz. They have a 1.44-in. (36.5 mm) diameter and are 1.81-in. (46 mm) deep. The stainless-steel case is sealed to IP67, and withstands EMC to 30 V/m and temperatures from ?40 to 85°C. A 10-mm shaft is standard and a 3/8-in. shaft is available.
