Chopped strands reinforce thermoplastics

Nov. 22, 2006
Fine-diameter chopped filaments let designers build ultrathin thermoplastic parts.

MicroMax reinforcements can reportedly reduce part wall thickness to 0.15 mm. Thats up to 4O% thinner than possible with standard glass fiber reinforcement. MicroMax filaments also deliver 30% higher tensile and flexural strength, are up to 50% thinner (6 to 7 micron), and boost weld strength 35% compared to standard filaments.
