Software betters composite design

March 26, 2009
FiberSIM 2009 simplifies composite part design with the addition of several new features.
FiberSIM 2009 software simplifies composite part design with the addition of a tool which lets users select a drop-off profile and the software assigns that profile to the entire part. This improves the updating of designs by eliminating the need to manually adjust each transition. In addition, a partial boundary editor lets users reduce layer boundary calculations by highlighting a specific region of a part, which cuts time waiting for recalculations. Also, a new design checker alerts users when flat patterns need to be generated, plies need to be spliced, or objects are out of date. For example, the checker validates boundaries and identifies poor modeling practices so problems with overlapping geometry can be avoided.
