The PKE high-torque, high-efficiency two-phase stepping motors can be driven at continuous-duty cycles.
The PKE high-torque, high-efficiency two-phase stepping motors can be driven at continuous-duty cycles. The PKE motors produce 1.2 to 1.5 times more torque than conventional motors while significantly reducing power loss. Benefits of the higher efficiency are lower heat generation (78%), constant-duty operation, up to 40% less power consumption, and reduced CO2 emissions (up to 15 kg).Motors have less need for cooling fans, and cooler operation extends service life and reduces potential problems due to thermal expansion. Increased torque allows motor downsizing for space constraints. The motor comes in a 1.65-sq-in. frame and three stack lengths of 1.3 (PKE243x), 1.54 (PKE244x), and 1.85 in. (PKE245x). All motors come with a standard shaft or double shafts and both unipolar and bipolar windings. Output torque ranges from 34 oz-in. for the PKE243A-L unipolar model up to 77.8 oz‑in. for the PKE245DA-L bipolar motor. With a 24-Vdc driver, shaft speeds in excess 2,000 rpm can be reached.Oriental Motor USA, 1001 Knox St., Torrance, CA 90502, (310) 715-3300, www.orientalmotor.com
