An embedded parameter chip stores pertinent mechanical and electronic motor data to make power-transmission systems identifiable in the application program. Stored data includes serial number, type, parameters, and manufacturer specifications.
The drive reads the motor data from the encoder, and the encoder automatically determines the current control parameters for optimal motor control. This reduces the time and resources necessary for manual entry of motor data and eliminates any margin for error. Another advantage is it supports automatic system configuration.
The embedded chip acts as a thumbprint for motor parameters so they may be identified and confirmed when troubleshooting a drive system. The ability to promptly verify motor-parameter accuracy lets users quickly eliminate the motor as the problem and focus their diagnostic efforts elsewhere.
