The company’s line of self-fusing silicone tape now includes sinusoidal fiberglass-reinforced tape. Fiberglass strands, incorporated into the tape, better control the amount of stretch for consistent thickness and dielectrics, and improve tear and abrasion resistance.

The tape is made from specially formulated silicone which only bonds to itself without an adhesive, allowing for clean installation and reentry. Fusion begins seconds after contact is made with 100% cohesion complete within 24 hr (at room temperature). The fused tape becomes an impermeable barrier against contaminating fluid and environmental ingress and provides excellent dielectric protection (in excess of 400 V/0.001 in. in thickness). When servicing is required, the tape removes easily and no adhesive is left on the substrate.

The line, which includes homogeneous rectangular, triangular guideline, and nonstretch formats, is suitable as an insulating material for applications requiring additional protection from environmental concerns (UV light, ozone, fungus, saltwater), chaffing, high and low-temperatures (–55 to 260°C), flame, fire, and fluid splash.
