B&R works with Wonderware

With its participation in the “Powered by Wonderware” program, B&R Industrial Automation Corp., Roswell, Ga., has expanded its options in the field of visualization software. The automation supplier will now offer Windows CE-based HMI devices, such as the Power Panel PP320 and Panel PCs PPC300 and PPC700, with InTouch Compact Edition Software from Wonderware preinstalled. For end users, this means that the devices are delivered ready for operation.

Minco names new president

Minco, based in Minneapolis, a manufacturer of flexible heaters, flexible circuits, and temperature sensors and instruments, announces the appointment of David Ring to the role of president. Prior to joining Minco, Ring was the founder and leader of ReVera, a California company that designs and manufactures high-precision metrology equipment used to monitor and measure semiconductor devices.

Bison Gear celebrates golden anniversary

On January 25, more than 200 employees of Bison Gear & Engineering Corp., St. Charles, Ill., gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the gearmotor manufacturer. Bison was established in 1960 by three Chicago-area entrepreneurs who derived the company's name from their last initials of B-S-N. The company began as a producer of gears and today manufactures gearmotors, electric motors, and gear reducers for hundreds of customers ranging from entrepreneurial OEMs to multinational industrial and commercial-equipment OEMs.

SPB-USA relocates to larger facility

SPB-USA LLC, Sarasota, Fla., has relocated to a larger facility, allowing the company to handle orders and shipping more efficiently. The company is the factory-direct sales and marketing U.S. headquarters for Japan's Sapporo Precision Inc., a manufacturer of EZO and SPB Precision Ball Bearings.

Renold Americas names new president

Rick Hamilton has been named president of Renold Americas where he is responsible for all sales operations in the U. S., Canada, and Latin America. Renold Americas is part of Renold plc, which manufactures and markets industrial chains and related power-transmission products.

WEG relocates North American headquarters

WEG Electric Corp., a global supplier of motors, drives, controls, transformers, and generators, has relocated its North American headquarters to 6655 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth, Ga. The new facility is 250,000 sq ft and houses 125 employees. With the move, WEG will implement environmentally friendly procedures, such as company-wide recycling, use of “green” cleaning chemicals, and a ban on Styrofoam cups. HVAC economizers are installed on rooftop units and an energy management system boosts overall energy efficiency.

Omron supports Haiti earthquake relief

OMRON Foundation Inc., Schaumburg, Ill., and Omron Corp., Kyoto, Japan, have donated a total of $75,000 to support victims and aid reconstruction in the areas devastated by the massive earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12. Donations were made via the American Red Cross — Haiti Relief and Development Effort, and the Japan Platform, which acts as a clearinghouse for donations from businesses to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

Nook celebrates 40th anniversary

Nook Industries, Cleveland, recently completed its fortieth year as a manufacturer of integrated linear motion components, such as ball and acme screw assemblies, planetary roller screws, worm gear screw jacks, electric cylinder actuators, linear bearings, round shafting, and linear slide systems. The company offers more than 10,000 configurable products for applications in the transportation, medical/diagnostics, paper, chemical, food/beverage, solar/aerospace, military, entertainment, and communications markets.
