Energy efficiency boosts drives market

Oct. 6, 2010
The low-power ac drives market is forecast to resume steady growth following the worldwide recession.

The low-power ac drives market is forecast to resume steady growth following the worldwide recession, according to a new study from ARC Advisory Group, Dedham, Mass. Analysts say the trend is due to growing investments in the infrastructure and manufacturing industries, requirements to increase the energy supply to meet demand, and pressure from industry to deploy sustainability measures that reduce costs by saving energy.

Capital investments for low-power ac drives are expected to rise across many industries, says ARC, as these solutions simultaneously save energy and raise productivity of machinery by providing better and more precise speed control. In addition, globalization is driving the use of advanced automation and energy-saving equipment worldwide: This will directly result in an increased use of low-power ac drives, widely employed across the process, discrete, and infrastructure industries such as building automation, food and beverage, and textiles.
