Kristy Klutzmeier swore she'd never own an SUV, but her insurance agent's loaner is beginning to win her over. She's using it for the third time in as many months, and it was the agent, in fact, who called to inform Kristy that the damage from her most recent accident was repaired — just as traffic on the Q.E.W. began to back up. Like so many times before, Kristy braked too late.

If the SUV weighs 5,900 lb and was traveling 30 mph before the impact, how fast was it going just after? Assume the car in front weighs 3,200 lb and was traveling 20 mph. For extra credit, what is the Q.E.W. and where is it? The additional information you need to solve this problem can be found on our website at www.motionsystemdesign.com.
