MagneMotion on the move

MagneMotion Inc., a manufacturer of assembly automation, material handling, and transportation solutions using linear synchronous motor (LSM) technology, will move its corporate headquarters in December. The new facility, to be located at 137 Barnum Road in Devens, Mass., is being constructed to accommodate the company's growing needs in the area of LSM systems development. Baldor buys Maska

Baldor Electric Co., Fort Smith, Ark., a manufacturer of industrial electric motors, power transmission products, drives, and generators recently announced that it has acquired Poulies Maska Inc., Ste-Claire, Quebec, Canada. Maska manufactures sheaves, bushings, couplings, and related mechanical power transmission components, with 2007 sales of $33 million; they have 180 employees located primarily in Canada and at a new facility in China. Motion Industries acquires Drago Supply

Drago Supply Company, Port Arthur, Tex., has been acquired by Motion Industries, Birmingham, Ala. Drago has eight locations in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, with annual revenues of approximately $75 million. The company stocks hand tools, power tools, general hardware, cutting tools, and abrasives, and is one of the 100 largest industrial distributors in the U.S. With 2007 sales of $3.4 billion, Motion Industries is an industrial parts distributor of bearings, mechanical power transmission, electrical and industrial automation, hydraulic and pneumatic components, industrial products, and material handling. Bosch Rexroth joins climate exchange

Bosch Rexroth, Hoffman Estates, Ill., recently announced that it is participating in the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), North America's only voluntary, legally binding greenhouse-gas emissions reduction, registry, and trading program. Overall, the Bosch Group has committed to achieve a 6% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions at its U.S. operations by 2010, from a baseline of the company's average greenhouse gas emissions in the year 2000. In addition, Bosch Rexroth will continue to develop energy-efficient products and technologies used in the renewable and clean energy space. For example, the company's electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and linear motion products are used in wind energy, trash-to-energy, and solar power production, as well as energy reduction and efficiency improvement programs. Danaher Motion wins Volvo contract

Due to record high fuel prices and legislative action requiring improved emissions standards, the global demand for fuel-efficient vehicles has skyrocketed. Good news for companies like Danaher Motion, Wood Dale, Ill., that supply this market: The company recently entered into a development and production agreement with the Volvo Group to produce hybrid systems for their fleet of heavy-duty vehicles.
