The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) is launching a new training program, the PTDA Hands-On Product Training Workshop, to be held Nov. 13-15 at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minn. The three-day workshop will take place in a hands-on lab environment with actual products. The goal is to give attendees an understanding of components used in typical industrial applications and processes so they can better assess and solve problems, according to course organizers.

The course is targeted at inside, outside, and counter salespeople with one to three years of experience in the power transmission and bearing industry. Participants will locate, identify, detail, size, and verify specific hardware components and then assemble simple component systems. For failed components, students will examine the component or system to determine the most likely cause of failure. The workshop includes two sessions covering mechanical products and one covering electrical products. Larry Dodd of Werner Electric, Neenah, Wis., will lead the sessions. Larry is licensed as an automated systems instructor in Minnesota and Wisconsin and was previously employed with Rockwell Automation as a senior technical instructor.
