Durable ABS Protypes

Feb. 17, 2005
The Dimension SST 3D printer builds complex geometric parts from durable ABS plastic from the bottom-up, one layer at a time.

The system includes all the capability of its Dimension predecessor and includes an automated soluble support removal system to reduce build times.

Both 3D printers are powered by Catalyst software, which runs on workstations using Windows NT, 2000, or XP. The software imports STL files, slices and orients the part, creates necessary support structures, and plots a precise deposition path for the 3D printer to follow. Unlike the legacy Dimension printer that requires users to manually remove support pieces, the Dimension SST provides a clean station that quickly and easily removes soluble supports, hence enabling "hands-free" 3D printing.
