Electronically Transmit Design Intent From CAD To Inspection

PC-DMIS Inspection Planner Suite makes a paperless task of turning design intent from CAD, thereby reducing time spent programming CMMs, probe-equipped CNC machines, vision systems, articulating arms, and other measurement devices.

IP Planner used SolidWork's GD&T capabilities to develop and embed this electronic inspection plan in the CAD model.


The package consists of IP Planner (resident in CAD) and IP Measure (resident in PC-DMIS measurement software). IP Planner, an add-on module, uses the GD&T capabilities in CAD systems to create virtual, marked-up part blueprints that define each feature to inspect and the inspection method. IP Measure then creates a predefined pattern of hits on each feature and an optimized probe path among them.
