According to a new report from TechAmerica Foundation, Washington, D.C., the U.S. high-tech industry added 30,200 jobs between January and June 2010, a 0.5% percent gain. The report details four sectors within the high-tech industry, including engineering and tech services, tech manufacturing, communications services, and software services. During the six-month period covered in the report, high-tech manufacturing in the U.S. once again added jobs. Technology manufacturers added 9,100 net jobs in the first half of 2010, for a total of 1.24 million technology-manufacturing jobs in June, a 0.7% gain. Two of the three high-tech service sectors also added jobs in the first six months of 2010: Software services added 14,200, while engineering and tech services added 29,700.
