The TSE mechanical encoder from CUI Stack Inc., Beaverton, Oreg., features a hollow shaft, eliminating the need to place the encoder directly behind the front panel. User-definable shaft lengths let the encoder be placed deep within the product's board design, making more panel space available and allowing greater layout flexibility for miniaturization or additional controls. A hex-shaft design delivers constant force and easy installation from knob to encoder without glues, setscrews, or other mechanical attachments. The TSE Series comes in three mounting heights, measured from board to shaft center: 7, 9, and 11 mm. Shaft rotation is 360°
