LCD Backlight System

    The Tandem Backlight Systems use proprietary light-guide plates combined with diffusers, reflective sheets, and either CCFLs or LEDs to project images onto television LCD panels.

    A series of wedge-shaped light guides parallel to the light source creates a brightness of more than 10,000 cd/m 2 . The system is only 0.39-in. (10-mm) thick and weighs very little.
