A composite technology reduces the weight of HIPRES accumulators by 30 to 40%

yet still allows them to pass the ballistic fragmentation tests necessary for military aircraft and burst tests for both commercial and military use. The composite housing's toughness is an added safety benefit for commercial aircraft as well.
