New Product: Alternative to rubber-metal composites

Nov. 8, 2007
Elastollan, a crosslinked thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU-X) overmolded onto structural thermoplastics, can replace rubber-metal composites.

During injection molding the TPU-X cross-links at the molecular level to structural thermoplastics such as Ultramid A3WG7 CR and A3WG10 CR glass fiber-reinforced polyamides (PAs). Coinjection molding is done in a single cycle and needs no bonding agent (primer). Cross-linking of Elastollan takes place at mold temperatures and within cycle times customary in injection molding. The TPU-X has a 60 Shore A hardness, withstands temperatures to 120°C, and resists chemicals.
