New Products: Black oxide coating

Aug. 19, 2009
The mini BK-LC black-oxide coating line treats aluminum with one heated tank and no electrolytic current.

The mini BK-LC black-oxide coating line uses a dip-tank procedure to durably coat aluminum with one heated tank and no electrolytic current. Coating is acheived in about 30 min depending on the alloy.

The finish formed is smooth, black, tightly adherent, and 1.5 microns thick. The process works on all cast and wrought aluminum alloys. 2000 and 7000 series alloys may need additional surface preparation.

The kit contains seven 5-gal immersion tanks, covers, an immersion heater, and chemical products to operate for two to six months, depending on workloads. The line occupies about 20 sq. ft.
