TONiC linear and rotary encoders, with rugged metal scales, target uses impractical for glass encoders and where space is an issue. The encoders deliver resolutions as low as 0.1 μm at speeds in excess of 3 m/sec.

The 35 × 13.5 × 10-mm devices feature auto-calibration, integral diagnostic LEDs, In-Trac optical reference mark, maximum speeds of 10 m/sec (3 m/sec at 0.1-μm resolution), fine resolution to 5 nm, and handle temperatures to 70°C.

Optics with high signal-to-noise ratio, along with dynamic signal processing within the readhead, ensure ultralow subdivisionalerror (SDE <±30 nm) and jitter. The unit has two readhead LEDs for quick and easy setup and diagnostics.

TONiC reads a variety of linear and rotary scales. The In-Trak reference mark is embedded into the incremental channel to maximize immunity to yaw-induced dephasing and ensure that phasing is retained throughout the entire speed and temperature range without increasing overall system width.
