Optical Isolators

April 26, 2007
The OPI1270, OPI1280, and OPI1290 Series of optical encoders feature a visible red LED, sit in heavy-duty opaque molded plastic housings that shield the optical signal from dust, and are coupled by a plastic flexible cable.

The isolator can be mounted at each end at different locations in the system. The OPI1270 and 1280 Series have a phototransistor sensor and the OPI1290 Series has a Photologic totem-pole output sensor. The isolators have an isolation voltage exceeding 20 kV with 0.05-in. lead spacing, a 100-mW power-dissipation rating, and operate in –40 to 100°C.
