Palletizing Robotics

May 5, 2005
An Adjustable Vacuum Palletizing (AVP) system features a modular design that easily expands to accommodate dissimilarities in product size without the need for additional end effectors.

The system targets mass customization in the packaging industry where there are numerous shapes and sizes of boxes and containers coming through production lines. The AVP includes a Vacuum Gripper System (VGS 3010). This includes multistage ejector technology that integrates the internal-components of a multistage pump into a vacuum cartridge. The result is a smaller vacuum unit that consumes less air than conventional ejectors while providing up to three times more vacuum flow. The AVP is also manually adjustable on the X and Y axes, so positioning can quickly change while keeping downtime to a minimum.
