Sensors and Transducers: RTD Sensors

Feb. 2, 2009
Line of resistance temperature detector (RTD) sensors are designed for precise and repeatable measurements

Line of resistance temperature detector (RTD) sensors are designed for precise and repeatable measurements. A high signal-tonoise output increases data-transmission accuracy with greater distance between the sensor and measuring equipment. The RTDs operate at –200 to 650°C. A linear change in resistance per degree change in temperature makes signal interpretation easy. Resistance-wire RTDs have a positive coefficient by increasing resistance with temperature increases.
