Squeaky wheels get the grease

April 1, 2005
Lubricating the chain pins and open-faced trolley-wheel bearings on overhead conveyors can be time consuming, expensive, and dangerous.

To automate the task, engineers at Oil-Rite Corp., Manitowoc, Wis. (oilrite.com), developed the Chain Trolley lubricator. It clamps directly to a conveyor's beams, so there is no need to machine the beam. This lets the system easily work with existing conveyor systems. The device also works while a conveyor is operating, so there's no downtime. The company's PurgeX positive-displacement pumps deliver precise amounts of lubrication, liquid, or grease, exactly where it is needed. This eliminates the common problem of overlubrication which can contaminate materials and the environment.
