Time-to-Digital Converter

Sept. 28, 2006
The new GP2 time-to-digital converter (TDC) is designed to power ultrasonic flow meters, magnetostrictive transducers, and other devices that rely on time-of-flight.
It measures 5x5 mm in size and offers two measurement ranges both with 65-psec resolution rms and multi-hit capability. A built-in fire-pulse generator has two outputs and is programmable for frequency, phase, and number of pulses. The driver-strength of each output is 48 mA at 5 V or the two outputs can be paralleled for 96 mA. Internal clock calibration tlets a built-in high-speed ceramic oscillator be precisely calibrated against the devices own 32.768 kHz clock.
