Torque Inserts Add Infinite Position Control

Oct. 26, 2006
Torque inserts give smooth torque control of hinged mechanisms in office equipment, medical devices, automotive interiors, computer peripherals, flat-panel monitors, access panels, industrial enclosures, and equipment guards.

Torque inserts incorporate "ReellTorq" technology for smooth consistent torque in both directions over a 360° range for more than 10,000 cycles. The product can be overmolded with plastic or pressed into a keyed cavity.

The TI 100 Series is available with torque ranges of 0.2 to 1.2 N-m (1.8 to 10.6 lb-in.) and 1.4 to 4.2 N-m (12.4 to 37.2 lb-in.). The TI 200 Series is designed for plastic insert molding. It comes in torque ranges of 1.5 to 3.5 N-m (13.3 to 31.0 lb-in.) and 5 to 8 N-m (44.3 to 70.8 lb-in.). Both TI 200 Series models offer a differential torque feature that gives a specific torque in one direction of rotation and only 60% of this torque in the opposite direction. This lets objects be easily positioned, yet provides maximum support against gravitational force.
