Radial lip seals, also know as oil or shaft seals, are primarily used for retaining lubricants in equipment having rotating or oscillating shafts. The seals are relatively inexpensive, take little space, install easily, and can handle many types of sealing situations. They can be used with most oils and hydraulic fluids at moderate pressures over wide temperature ranges and are tolerant of misalignment, dynamic shaft runout, and variations in shaft speed.
